Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)

Description :

The decision to incorporate 'Objective Structured Clinical Examination(OSCE) circuits was first introduced in the Saudi Board Preparatory Course Part II(written) conducted in May 2001. Course reviews were full of enthusiasm for this method of preparation, and requested that the Postgraduate Training Center offer a course with special emphasis on OSCE.

Who should attend :

Residents who have passed the official Saudi or Arab Board Part II written exam in Obstetrics and Gynecology have priority for registration. Any resident specializing in this field, however, would benefit from attending this course.

Objectives :

Residents who have completed their training in Obstetrics and Gynecology are prepared for Part II of the Saudi or Arab Board clinical examination.

Overview :

This five-day skill-focused clinical preparatory course is characterized by lectures on the philosophy of OSCE; it has the examination format, timing and expectations; and also an OSCE demonstration. Candidates move through a series of clinical circuits that test their knowledge, skills attitude and clinical judgement. They are then expected expeditiously to demostrate their command of the fundamental principles of obstetrics and gynecology. Examiners use case scenarios and, in some cases, patient models in conducting circuit sessions.

Once you have deposited your payment and to enable us to trace your payment and confirm your place on the course you must fax (+966 1 252 0252 ext. 5447) or e-mail (ptc1@ngha.med.sa) , a copy of your deposit slip to the PTC. Once you completed the instruction, please call us for the pre-course package.


Cash payment can be made at the Postgraduate Training Center (near the Mosque) in MCX between 08:00 and 17:00hrs during the week. Payment can also be made by cheque. However a course place can only be confirmed once the cheque has cleared the banking system and the payment has been verified as credited to the PTC account. Please make cheques payable to ESC/ Postgraduate Training Center.

Cancellation Policy :

If a participant decides to cancel their place on a course after it has been confirmed an administration charge of SR 50/- or 20% of the total course fee (whichever is the greater) will be charged up to four (4) weeks prior to the start date of the course. 100% of the total course fee will be charged within four (4) weeks prior to the start of the course. The PTC will refund the course fee minus an administration charge of SR 50/- or 20% (whichever is the greater), if a substitute can be found by the participant to fill the vacancy or in exceptional circumstances, as deemed by the Director of Medical Education.
